The Skizmo Award

This award will be presented to the best over-all girl in the Children's 2 category at the British Championships calculated on race points. The Club would like to thank Luxmi Selvarajah of Airborn Products for her continued support with the Ladies Ski Club.

Isy Mabey Award

This award will be given to the the Ladies Ski Club junior member with the best slalom points at the end of the previous season. Isy Mabey was a British Ladies Team member for three seasons and competed on the FIS European circuit. Isy's strongest and most favoured discipline was slalom and it was felt that this award should reflect this. Isy Mabey is the daughter of Penny.

Penny Mabey Award

The Penny Mabey award was first donated over 10 years ago through the Skiers’ Trust. When she died the money left to the Ladies’ Ski Club was put in a bespoke fund in the Skiers’ Trust.

This prestigious award is always given to a girl or girls who have Olympic potential. While she was alive Penny Mabey took a keen interest in the girls who received the award and followed their progress throughout the season. Some used to send her progress reports.

Penny Mabey herself was a great skiing supporter and was the mother and grandmother of racers. She understood how difficult it was to keep youngsters going on the racing circuit. Her daughter, Isabel, skied with the British Team. She also attended the British Schoolgirls’ Races and was there to present the prizes in 1998.

Lady Blane Award

The award was founded in memory of Lady Blane OBE (LSC President 1960-63) by her daughter Mrs Helen Tomkinson MBE (LSC President 1951-54) and Mrs Pauline Sitwell, a former committee member.

The award is given to a member of the LSC for an outstanding contribution to ladies skiing. It is not necessarily awarded every year. The nominations for the award are decided by the LSC committee, in conjunction with Lady Lewthwaite and Mrs Virginia Evans, daughters of Mrs Helen Tomkinson, and Mrs Pauline Sitwell. The award is usually a specially engraved piece.

Kirsteen McGibbon Memorial Award

In January 1996 Kirsteen McGibbon, a member of the British Alpine Ski Team, died while competing in a Downhill in Altenmarkt, Austria. It was her first year as a member of the British Team and her future both on and off the ski slopes was full of potential. Following her death, a memorial fund was set up to help encourage junior girls and over the past 10 years the award has become highly regarded and has helped talented junior girls to realise their ambitions.
