January 2011

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the award and sponsorship from the LSC, this is the first time I have won an award from LSC and It was a fantastic feeling, thank you so much, please pass my thanks to everyone involved with the LSC.

I have posted a blog to publically thank you on my web site. and also update my site to include you as a sponsor.

my web site is www.charlotte-jesse.co.uk

I also have a blog site http://cj-ski.blogspot.com/

once again thank you and I will keep you updated with the season as we go.

Just to fill you in a bit,

I started the season in Meribel and Tignes training with a euro-test team, I then managed to persuade my [parents to let me go to America for pre-christmas races and managed to get my lowest SL points so far (74) which was a great boost for me, after returning from the USA i have to juggle college and training as I am on a extended diploma in sport and exercise science Farnborough College in Hampshire. I am off soon to Meribel and local races around the region. for a week or so.

2011 UPDATE

I just thought i Would fill you in on what is happening mid season

I have been staying in meribel training for the local races and competitions

I attended the Inter services week, where England Team members are given the opportunity to race against the Army, Navy and Air force ski teams, this is always a great race and fantastic opportunity to race downhill on the meribel stade
so we had 2 days of training downhill and then the race of the third day, training went really well and I managed to place 3rd in the downhill race, which is a great achievement for me as speed was not my thing (so I thought).
The Super G was a disaster, I managed to pass the wrong side of the control gate on the flat so despite posting the fastest time i was DSQ.
The Giant Slalom I had to miss due to illness and the Sl I managed to loose a ski. however i was pleased that I was preforming well according to my coach.

So we headed to Bormio for the English Championships

The conditions in Bormio were great, good snow and cold.

the fist NJR slalom was again a disaster and again I lost a ski (we later found out that the binding had failed and the forward pressure spring was broken, so we had new binding fitted in resort), however the next day was GS so again I was able to maintain a 2nd junior 1 positions for the race, so really please.

We then moved to the FIS races

Super G went well I was pleased with the run and again came 2nd junior 1 (see pic below)

The next day was Giant Slalom again, FIS level.

I was on the whole pleased with my 1st run although it was behind the leader in Junior 1 by just over a second, so going into the second run I up the pace a bit more and despite being late and a bit ragged over the jump managed to finish in British 2nd Junior 1 again (see pic below)

Slalom
so the last day of competition, despite the skis having come off for the last 3 races (now with new bindings)

I presented my best effort, the first run was ok, I was pleased to finish with both skis on, and the 2nd course i pushed harder. and finished in 1st British Junior 1 position and collected the English Slalom Champion Salvo so during prize giving I had not realised that I was eligible for the overall English Champion prizes. And it was a complete shock to be placed 2nd overall at the championships

I just wanted to say thank you for your contribution, I have spent the money on new boots prior to these championships as my coach indicated that the old boots where to stiff. I think I have to agree with him now.

I will let you know how the rest of the season goes

regards CJ
