PROFILEName: Christy Mackinnon November 2011 I started skiing at a very young age and since have progressed to gain international selection for the British Children's team, Scottish Junior Team and the British Junior Team. In 2007 I became the British Children's overall Champion. In 2008 and 2009 I won the British Junior Slalom title. In 2010 I also became the Scottish Senior Ladies overall Champion. In 08/09 I was selected to represent Team GB at the European Youth Olympics where I gained valuable experience and was inspired to develop my love for the sport further. In 10/11 I spent the early part of the season competing in America with the British Junior Team. I significantly reduced my FIS points in two out of three disciplines and gained 2nd junior lady in Vail CO. Unfortunately during Slalom training in Austria in January I ruptured my ACL which put me on a rehabilitation programme for the remainder of the season. I am delighted to have been re selected for the British Junior Team for the 11/12 season. I am now coming to the end of my rehab and I am looking forward to returning to snow before the end of the year. I look forward to achieving my challenging goals and targets set for the coming season. I would like to thank The Ladies Ski Club for their continued support. It is much appreciated. A thank you to the Club President and an update on Christy's season to date. I would just like to write a short email to thank you for your generous award! It is absolutely fantastic and I thoroughly appreciate your support. This season I am training as part of a group of full time girls with the British Junior Team. I have just returned from Saas Fee after an October training camp with the team and we are heading off to Colorado in two weeks time to prepare for the first races of the season in Vail at the end of November. For the main part of the season we will be based in Zell Am See. I would be delighted to keep you informed with how my season is going. I am very excited for the coming season and your kind award will undoubtedly help me to achieve my targets for this year. Biography I started skiing at the age of 4 at The Lecht before joining Glencoe ski club before beginning race training with the Scottish Ski Club at Cairngorm at the age of 11. Skiing has had a huge influence on my life ever since. I first competed in the British Championships in Pitztal where I gained a place on the British Children s team. I was a member of the children s team for four years and gained international experience at many races including Toppolino. In 2007 I was selected for the Scottish junior team and the British Youth team. In 2009 I was selected to represent Great Britain at the European Youth Olympics in Poland. This was a fantastic experience and has inspired me to develop my love for the sport further. With only 2 weeks of school remaining, next year I hope to be able to focus my interests fully on skiing. This is a very exciting prospect for me and I look forward to what next year will bring!
