PROFILE

My parents have been skiing instructors in Andorra since I was born, I have therefore been brought up with skiing. I was invited to join the local ski club when I was seven, where we raced and trained at the weekends and I attended the local Spanish school.

I first attended the British Championships in 2001 when I was 11 and gained a place on the children's team the next season.

In 2003 I began my training at the British Ski Academy in Les Houches, France. I spent three winters there combining my schoolwork and my skiing; slotting back into school after the Easter holidays until Christmas.

From 2007 I trained in Switzerland and New Zealand with a group of Australian and New Zealand athletes, taking as much time off school as I could afford without compromising my A level grades. I was happy in 2008 when I finished school and became a full time racer. I studied an A level in Human Biology during my first season full time to further my knowledge of the body and ultimately to help my ski racing.

This season I joined a group of French athletes in Champagny. Training with girls with lower FIS points created a more competitive environment and this pushed me to become faster, resulting in some great results at the British Championships and ending my junior career with a win.

2010 update

Thank you once again for supporting my ski racing. This winter season has been my best so far.

My winter began in January in Champagny, France where I have been based for the last 2 years. Since then I have been training and racing around France. This season saw my debut to the Europa Cup Circuit, a step closer to my aim of competing on the World Cup circuit and in the 2014 Winter Olypic games. My season has been up and down and the British Championships marked my end of season on a high, My championship results were as follows:

Downhill                         1st

Super G                        1st

Super-combined            DNF

GS                                    3rd

Slalom                                    6th

Overall                        1st

More of my results can be found at www.fis-ski.com and typing Niki Sole.

I am now having a short break before starting on my fitness training for the next winter season.

I would like to thank you for all your help and support.

Yours sincerely,

Niki Sole
