Over 25 LSC members and guests joined the annual walk and picnic in East London on Sunday. We met in Wapping and followed various canals passing the old docks, derelict industrial buildings, conversions, new buildings and several parks, including the Olympic park. We had a picnic in Victoria Park, London’s oldest public park, before returning fo Wapping for much deserved tea and cake! Click on the picture below to see a few more photos

LSC joined 13 ski clubs for the 12th Amateur Inter-Club Championships hosted by the Kandahar in Murren in March. We fielded six teams across all three age categories and our A team in the 45-59 category (Nikki Reid, Sheridan Killwick, Marguerite Nice and Caroline Brown) took the bronze medal. It was a great few days with some excellent racing (GS, Super G and team parallel slalom) and superb hospitality; a James Bond themed dinner at the Piz Gloria restaurant at the top of the Schilthorn and a gala dinner at the Palace Hotel, the birth place of LSC.
LSC will be hosting next year in Flaine; if any members are keen to help with the organisation please contact Joanna Milner-Percy.
Congratulations to Cara Brown, Abi Bruce and Jess Anderson all who were on the podium today after a successful downhill in Tignes at the British Championships!
Charlie Guest put in one of her best-ever races in the ladies’ slalom to finish 24th. Having never previously made the flip into the top 30 at Olympic, World Championships or World Cup level, the 25-year-old finished 30th on the first run and had the honour of leading the field down for the second run.
Guest temporarily held the World Championship lead, ultimately registering the 14th-fastest second run time to climb six places into 24th.
The World Cup season is now complete after travelling to Italy, France, Germany and Slovenia. Jasmin Taylor collected a total of 7 World Cup podiums, including 1 victory whilst competing in France. She is now joint British record holder for total number of World Cup podiums and is ranked 3rd in the world.
The World Championships will be held in Rjukan, Norway from 20-23 March.
The Ladies’ Ski Club will be hosting our first Indoor Ski Racing Championships for Schoolgirls on 15 September 2019.
The races will be open to any schoolgirl from the age of 12 to 18 who can enter as an individual or part of their School Team. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each age group and for the best School Team. It is hoped that the event will provide an opportunity for those schools involved in the British Schoolgirls Races to select teams and have a practice prior to the Races to be held at the end of January in Flaine.
